Diwali
As most of you have known, i have been on a vegetarian diet for 2 weeks already. Some of you might think it’s quite a small issue and not worthy of attention as it is only just a short 2 week stint. But you guys are quite incorrect.
Being a vegetarian is just torturous. There is no flavor in your food, no sensation, no “umph”… It is made worst when one places meat as a pre-requisite to sustain life itself and a requirement to endure the challenges of everyday life. On top of that, my friends and family members who eat with me everyday have to find restaurants to accommodate my sudden change of diet and this i think really is the bad side of going vegan. Troubling others so one can give thanks is not a good way to say thank you.
I’ve done a vegetarian diet before and that was about a year ago after i got my results for EOS 3. I did a month of abstinence from meat and it wasn’t so bad. The reason being i did not honor the embargo continuously, frequently replacing days i ate meat for later.
This time it was different. It took a lot of discipline on my behalf, and the tolerance of my peers to drag me through this stage. I continuously, without replacing or stopping, ate nothing but plants for 2 weeks.
Today, Monday, the 27th of October, is the day that the ban is lifted. And this day is marked by Sanjeet’s Diwali open house, which he and his parents so kindly cooked up a meal to feed 64 hungry lions. There were cookies, home made by his mum and himself, there was chapati, 50 of which made by him, and of course, the highlight of the afternoon, the mutton, made in collaboration with his dad.
The mutton. Such a proper way to re-innervate my taste buds to meat. As i took a bite of this salty, spicy, tender and succulent piece of lamb, fireworks erupted in my mouth, as if celebrating the release of an oppressed peace maker in house arrest. I can feel every sensation in my body rejoice as the texture of the meat rolled around my oral cavity, joining in the celebration of this long lost friend who has returned.
Exaggerated?
I think not, as i would think the mutton is, in fact, one of the best i have ever tasted, and no matter how many thank yous i have said to Sanjeet and his family, i would not have thanked them enough.
So thank you Sanjeet, for inviting me over to your open house!
Oh and thanks of the Heineken too!
And to Kelvin, Anthony, Rachel, and Amrita for stopping over to make noise and be merry with me!
Thanks you guys!
Happy Deepavali everyone!
P/S: Yannee~ you missed good food la!! bwahahhahaha!

Jam
Picture this
Me and Anthony in his Silver Myvi, on the way home to Vista from Mid Valley.
We just paid the parking and were looking for the exit to Jalan Klang Lama. We found it, after numerous twists and turns. On the exit, there was a pile up, caused by some white Mercedes E240 breaking down on the middle of the ramp. After clearing, that we were on the kesas, heading to the underpass junction near Endah Parade. The junction was occluded by TONS of cars. While we waited in line:
Anthony: Eh~ damn jam wei.
Me: Yea… my bladder full wei.
Anthony: Eh, if we go straight, and head towards Seremban, got flyover to U-turn back anot?
Me: Probably not, but we could try!
Anthony: Want or not?
Me: Sure! Let’s be adventurous!
And so, we both headed to Seremban, only to find ourselves another jam… and all the exits to U-turn were clogged up much worst than at the junction before
Anthony: OH SHIT!!!
Me: I WANNA GO TOILET!!!
We soon by passed all the exits before the toll, and before we know it, we were at the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza. We took the ticket, and lo and behold, we came to another jam just after the Toll
Anthony: OH SHIT!!!!!!!!!
Me: My Bladded distended….
And so we braved the traffic, 1 kilometer at a time… for 13 kilometers where we turned off at UPM exit.
Once we yet again brave a new at the UPM toll plaza, we managed to piss off a toll worker by toping up anthony’s touch n go card, and paying the cash ticket at the same time… Tulan like anything le she…
We made a U-turn, put in Incubus’s Light Grenades CD, blasted it and gunned the accelerator back to vista.
The whole affair took one and a half hours. A journey that normally took 15 minuites.
Productive day indeed!
